Essam Al-Hadari's Sion reached the Swiss Cup quarter final after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Liga (third tier) side Malley on Sunday. Colombian midfielder Alvaro Dominguez scored the winner for Sion two minutes before the break. Egypt keeper Al-Hadari, who was subjected to fierce criticism after skipping Sion's 2-1 defeat at Bellinzona earlier this month, played the full 90 minutes. He put in a fine display and managed to block several goalscoring opportunities for Malley. Following media reports, Al-Hadari has recently ruled out returning to Cairo giants Ahli, the club he abruptly departed in April. The veteran goalie is considering moving to the French Ligue 1 after growing increasingly frustrated with Sion's instability. Sion are going through a spell of instability, after chairman Christian Constantin sacked coach Uli Stielike and decided to manage the team on a temporary basis.
