Essam Al-Hadari's Sion reached the Swiss Cup semi-final after coming from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over St. Gallen on Tuesday. The hosts took the lead after 11 minutes when Sion defender Stephane Sarni inadvertently converted a cross into his own net. Sion leveled the score eight minutes after the break, thanks to a goal from forward Olivier Monterrubio. Colombian midfielder Alvaro Dominguez netted the precious winner six minutes past the hour mark. Egypt keeper Al-Hadari put in a fine display, denying St.Gallen two goalscoring opportunities in the second period. Although he was criticized for some disappointing displays recently, Al-Hadari is likely to remain as Egypt's first-choice guardian when they face Zambia in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers on March 29th.
