Petrojet coach Mokhtar Mokhtar lamented a ‘naïve' defensive error that gifted Ahli the opener in the embarrassing 4-0 Egyptian League defeat to the Cairo giants. Mohamed Abou-Treika put Ahli in front 12 minutes after the restart when he converted a penalty after Petrojet defender Fathi Mousa clumsily brought down Flavio Amado inside the area. “It was a needles tackle,” Mokhtar fumed in the post-match press conference. “Flavio was not in a good position to score so we shouldn't have gifted Ahli a penalty.” Mokhtar believes the result was a bit harsh on Petrojet, who still occupy the league summit with 11 points. “We wasted two opportunities in the second half that would have changed the match's outcome.” “Petrojet did not deserve to lose by that big margin,” Mokhtar, who worked as an assistant to Jose during the latter's first spell in charge of Ahli in 2001, added.
