Mido was forced to pull out of Middlesbrough's starting line-up in Saturday's North-East derby at Sunderland after he was injured moments before kickoff. The Egypt forward, who missed most of last season with injury, pulled a hamstring at Stadium of Light despite early reports of a re-aggravating a groin injury. Mido was handed a starting role by Gareth Southgate at the expense of Brazil striker Afonso Alves, who was set to make the bench for the first time this season. Southgate will be sweating on the extent of Mido's injury as the Boro boss already lost key forward Sanli Tuncay for six weeks.
