Egyptian striker Amr Zaki continued his outstanding displays as he scored twice and dished out an assist to help Wigan Athletic thrash Hull City 5-0 in the Premiership on Saturday. The combative frontman took his tally in the Premiership to three goals in as many games as he set the tone for a remarkable season in the elite competition. Wigan picked up their first points of the season as they slumped to two successive defeats against West Ham and Chelsea. Zaki, who heavily impressed with the Latics since joining from Zamalek in the close season, scored his first goal of the night in the 63rd minute. Zaki beat Hull keeper Boaz Myhill with a precise low shot from just inside the area. The 25-year-old hitman completed the rout nine minutes from time after England's veteran striker Emile Heskey had added a fourth goal. He unleashed a fierce drive from inside the area that crashed in off the woodwork, leaving Myhill stranded. An own goal by Samuel Ricketts gave Wigan a deserved lead after five minutes. Talented winger Antonio Valencia doubled the advantage eight minutes later after a brilliant solo effort. He controlled Zaki's pass in midfield, danced his way through Hull's own half before tricking a defender and notching home with aplomb.
