Manchester United win Community Shield

Manchester United made a perfect start to the season as they beat Portsmouth 3-1 on penalties after a scoreless draw to win the Community Shield on Sunday at Wembley.
Nani had an fine chance in the first half as he got past Sol Campbell and keeper David James but he lost control of the ball.
The Red Devils put more pressure on Pompey in the second half and Carlos Tevez demanded a penalty after being fouled in the area but that was in vain.
Going into penalties, Tevez, Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick scored from the spot, while Jermaine Defoe was the only one who scored for Portsmouth as Lassana Diarra, Arnold Mvuemba and Glen Johnson missed their penalties.
United, the English and European Champions, have won their 13th Community Shield title.
