Egyptian FA spokesman Medhat Shalabi revealed that the local Super Cup between Ahli and Zamalek will be played on July 27th as previously scheduled. "We found out that there was no need to postpone the match," Shalabi said in Modern TV late on Thursday. Egyptian FA president Samir Zaher recently hinted that the Super Cup might be delayed for security concerns. "The current hostile atmosphere in Egyptian football may force us to postpone the Super Cup," Zaher told Dream TV. "There is no room for two Cairo derbies within one week. The tensions will probably flare." Ahli will face arch-rivals Zamalek in the CAF Champions League group stage opener on Sunday. Both sides were busy in the transfer market, confronting each other over the signing of several players. The transfer duels have increased the traditional rivalry between the Cairo clubs. Ahli fans accused Zamalek of trying to snatch players from under their noses, and vice versa.
