Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce said he believes Zamalek's Amr Zaki is the best striker in the world. "According to FIFA statistics, Zaki is rated No.1 in the world," Bruce told the Daily mail on Thursday. Bruce has been a long time admirer of the heavy-duty forward and negotiations with his Egyptian club seem to have reached a conclusion. "He's scored better than one in two for his country and Egypt won the African Cup of Nations. Zaki has arrived in Wigan on Thursday to undergo a medical before completing the proposed loan move to the Latics from Zamalek. The two sides have finally agreed a one year loan move worth 1 million sterling pounds for Zaki. The move could be made permanent for an extra fee of 5 million pounds if the former ENPPI star excels in the Premiership.
Steve Bruce Zaki, who scored 4 goals in Egypt's 2008 African Cup of Nations winning campaign, said he was glad to be at the JJB Stadium and that the move is about to be finalized. "I'm very happy to be here and hope to sign for Wigan. It was difficult for me to come here as my club still wanted me," he told Sky Sports News upon arriving in Wigan. The 25-year-old ace said he was a keen follower of English football and knows the uphill task ahead of him. "I watch all the Premier League and Championship games and think a loan would be good so I can prove myself. "There is a big difference between English and Egyptian football. The competition and the players are tougher here," he added.
