Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has extended his deal with Juventus until 2013, the Serie A side announced on Friday. "The contract renewal is not a goal itself, but a point which I want to build on," Chiellini told Juventus' official website. The 23-year-old was close to departing Juventus last summer but the arrival of coach Claudio Ranieri prompted him to carry on with the Bianconeri. Juventus opted to tie Chiellini to a new deal after he put in some fine displays in Italy's disappointing EURO 2008 campaign. The former Fiorentina man said he is looking forward to helping Juventus claim silverware next season. "We want to get back to winning ways, perhaps from next year when we return to the Champions League." "Is it better to win the Scudetto or the Champions League? We cannot afford to choose, but winning something important is a dream for our supporters," he added.
