Valdes calls for Rijkaard respect

Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes believes coach Frank Rijkaard deserves more respect despite the team's failure to win any silverware for the second successive season.
"I do not think that his work is being valued, not just now but from previous years," Valdes was quoted as saying by the club's website.
"I personally think he is the right man for the job and deserves a lot more respect than he is being given."
Barcelona's season was effectively over after they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Manchester United.
Having been knocked out of the King's Cup, as well as losing hopes of competing for the Primera Liga title, the Catalans will definetely end the season empty-handed.
Speculation rife that Rijkaard will be sacked following Barca's poor season. Valdes wants the Dutchman to remain at the helm.
"I expect that he will stay here for many more years to come," the 26-year-old guardian.
