United rout Arsenal to advance in FA Cup, Barnsley oust Liverpool
Published in FilGoal on 16 - 02 - 2008

Portuguese winger Nani inspired Manchester United to a thrashing 4-0 victory over 10-man Arsenal as the Red Devils progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
A brace from Darren Fletcher in addition to goals from Nani and Wayne Rooney condemned Arsenal to an embarrassing defeat at Old Trafford.
Nani masterminded United's stunning victory over their Premiership challengers through his dazzling skills and eye-catching moves.
Arsenal were missing several key players through injury. They were outplayed throughout the game and failed to test United keeper Edwin van der Sar.
Rooney opened the scoring after 16 minutes when he glanced a header past Jens Lehmann from close range.
Scottish midfielder Fletcher, who started on the right flank instead of Cristiano Ronaldo, doubled the lead four minutes later after heading home Nani's pinpoint cross.
Nani turned from provider to scorer seven minutes before the break when he controlled Michael Carrick's superb long ball to go clear and slot into the bottom corner.

Benitez under pressure
Arsenal played the majority of the second-half with ten men on the field after Emmanuel Eboue received a straight red card for a clumsy tackle on Patrice Evra.
Nani once again caught the eyes after setting up Fletcher for the fourth goal with 16 minutes left.
The former Sporting Lisbon bamboozled Hoyte with some swift stepovers before providing an inviting to cross to Fletcher, who headed home at the far post.
Liverpool stunned at Barnsley
Liverpool crashed out of the competition after a shocking 2-1 defeat by Championship side Barnsley.
Brian Howard scored from the spot in injury time to claim a famous win for the outsiders.
Dirk Kuyt's opener for the Reds was cancelled out by a second half strike from Stephen Foster, before Howard's decisive penalty finished off Rafa Benitez's team.
