Wayne Rooney posted his first hat-trick in the Premiership to lead Manchester United to a thrashing 4-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo was also on the scoresheet to hand the Red Devils a convincing victory over Sam Allardyce's men. United regained their position on the Premiership summit with 25 points, ahead of second-placed Chelsea on goal difference. Rooney ended his goal-drought after just 10 minutes when he latched on to Michael Carrick's through ball before sending a left-footed strike past Bolton Finnish keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen. He doubled the lead six minutes later when he brilliantly curled a low shot into the back of the net from close range. Ronaldo added the third eight minutes from time as he slotted home into the empty net after being set-up by French striker Louis Saha.
Van Persie salvaged Arsenal's draw Former Everton striker Rooney completed the rout one minute before the final whistle after he controlled Darren Fletcher's long pass and poked home past Jaaskelainen. Elsewhere, Robin van Persie's free-kick salvaged a point for Arsenal who were held to a 1-1 home draw by resilient Everton. Tim Cahill put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute after capitalizing on Arsenal's poor defending to volley home Mikel Arteta's corner. Dutch forward Van Persie curled a free-kick into the net in the 71st minute to claim a draw for Arsenal.
