Minnows Sudan and Zambia out to make a point
Published in FilGoal on 22 - 01 - 2008

Group C underdogs Sudan and Zambia open their 2008 CAN campaign in Kumasi later on Tuesday.
Both teams will take to the pitch with one major motivation, the three points. Given the fact that Cameroon and Egypt are favorites to go through, Tuesday's game could be the only chance for Sudan or Zambia to register a win.
Zambia
"We are not scared of any team here and they should not underrate us because they will be surprised with what we are capable of doing," captain Chris Katongo said.
Team News: Zambia, who are already missing injured key trio Collins Mbesuma, Moses Sichone and Andrew Sinkala, will be without captain Chris Katongo and Helsingborg's midfielder Isaac Chansa, as the duo are suspended.
Moreover, coach Patrick Phiri said that young striker Felix Sunzu is still recovering from Malaria and is not expected to feature.
Strength: Phiri has a very young team compared to any other team, the Zambians have no players over 30 years old in the 23-man squad.
Weakness: The Chipolopolo are missing a host of key players through injuries and suspension, especially upfront.

Zambian fans are waiting for the start whistle
Probable Line-up: Mweene, Hachilensa, Chinyama, Nketani, Mwanza- Bakala, Kalaba, F.Katongo, J.Mulenga- Phiri, Chamanga
Sudan
"We are here for the first time in 32 years, so the fans must be aware of that, but we are hoping to appear in good shape," said coach Mohamed Abdullah 'Mazda'.
Team News: After the omission of first-choice goalkeeper Bahaa El-Din Mohamed, Mazda is likely to field in Hilal keeper Moez Mahjoub in goal.
Strength: Sudan have a strong attack line with qualifiers top scorer Faisal Ajab and talented striker Haytham Tambal, the team scored 13 goals in the qualifiers.
Weakness: The Sudanese will surely lack the experience at top level competitions after 32 years in the dark.
Probable Line-up: Mahjoub- Bakhit, Gibril, Gastin, Al-Tayeb, Yousif- Mustafa, M.Mohamed, Bashir- Ajab, Tambal.
