Hazem Emam and Alaa Abdul-Ghani were named in Zamalek's African squad, just two days before the registration deadline. Captain Emam was reportedly out of favor as news leaked from the club said manager Ruud Krol wanted to drop him from the African squad. But the Dutch manager backed Emam and said the Zamalek legendary playmaker is part of his plans for the continental mission. Doubts were also raised over Abdul-Ghani because of his repeated injuries. But after he shook off a knee injury and featured twice for Zamalek in the Egyptian Cup, he looked ready to regain his starting spot. New-signing Mohamed Abdullah and striker Mostafa Gaafar were also named in the squad. Zamalek still have fours spots in their African squad and the club are yet to decide how to use them. "We will decide whether to register any of our players or wait for new-signings in August, when the registration is reopens," football director Ayman Mansour told FilGoal.com. Full-backs Ahmed Hossam and Osama Hassan, center-back Yamen Ben Zekri and keeper Wael Ismael 'Zenga' have been dropped.
