Confirmed: Barakat ruled out of Nations Cup

Ahli's midfielder Mohamed Barakat has been completely ruled out of the Nations Cup as he is set to undergo a knee surgery in Germany in the next couple of weeks.
"Mohamed Barakat will fly to Germany on January 14 to undergo a knee surgery," Ahli's doctor Ehab Ali told FilGoal.com.
Egypt's technical staff was considering including the 29-year old player to their Nations Cup squad following the injury of right winger Mohsen Hindawi.
However, the news demolished their hopes as the Red Devils' energetic midfielder won't be back before four weeks.
Meanwhile, Ahli coach Manuel Jose led Wednesday's training session after returning from his Christmas and New Year vacations.
The Portuguese tactician will watch his players during Thursday's training session to pick up his squad for the Cup game against Asyut Petroleum on Sunday.
