Anderlecht playmaker Ahmed Hassan is the highest paid player in the Belgian league along with teammate Jan Polak, according to Brussels sport magazine. The Egypt midfielder is joined with the Czech Republic international on top of the salary list as both players reportedly earn €700,000 a year. Standard Liege's American defender Oguchi Onyewu and Club Bruges midfielder Karel Geraerts share third place with €550,000 each. Hassan joined the Purple and White last season, and the 32-year-old helped the team clinch the Belgian league title in his first season.
