Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan believes that the three-match ban imposed against him by the African Football Confederation (CAF) was a harsh decision. The Anderlecht playmaker was punished by CAF following his sending off in Egypt's goalless draw with Burundi three weeks ago after lashing out into an opposition player. "The punishment is very harsh, the challenge was unintentional, I don't deserve to be banned for three games," Hassan told FilGoal.com. "I know my boot caught the player's face, but I did not mean to hit him." Egypt will appeal against the African football governing body's decision in an attempt to minimize Hassan's punishment. The verdict means that the 32-year-old midfielder will miss two group games in next year's 2008 African Nations Cup, which Egypt are on the verge of reaching.
