Ahli and Zamalek play their 100th game in the Egyptian League and several players from both sides are willing to make history. Ahli won 34 matches and Zamalek prevailed 25 times while both teams settled or a stalemate 40 times. The past 99 games witnessed 212 goals, 120 of them for the Reds and 92 goals registered by Zamalek. Top Scorers Mohamed Abou-Treika, who has six goals to his name in league games against Zamalek, is one strike away from equaling the all-time record of scoring for one team. He trails Ahli's Toutou and Zamalek's Alaa Al-Hamouli, who lead the charts with seven goals each. Ahli striker Flavio Amado will be also looking to match Ghanaian Kwarchi, who has been the most prolific foreigner in the derby with three goals. The Angolan forward scored twice in last season's first game and needs one more goal to tie the record. Ghanaian striker Felix Aboagye "Ahmed Felix" scored twice for Ahli and Yemeni international Ali Mohsen also notched a brace for Zamalek. Both have announced retirement. Nigeria's 1994 World Cup star Emmanuel Amunike, Malian Soumaila Coulibaly and Palestinian Mostafa Negm scored a goal each for Zamalek. Hossam Hassan has the all-time record for total goals in the derby with nine goals. He scored five wearing the red shirt and four with the Whites. Gamal Abdul-Hamid follows Hassan in this category, scoring six goals among his careers in Ahli and Zamalek, with four of them for the latter.
Ibrahim Saied saw red in both colors Ahli's Khaled Ali "Bibo" is the highest scorer in one match as he notched four goals in the memorable 6-1 victory over Zamalek in 2002. Ahli's Mohamed Amer is the only player who scored at both ends of the pitch as he scored an own goal before nudging the equalizer in the 1-1 draw during the 1981-1982 season. Withdrawals The first case was registered in the second leg of the 1965-1966 season as Ahli quit the game after going two down. The Red Devils did it again in 1970-1971 when a Farouk Gaafar penalty gave Zamalek the lead and triggered violence on the pitch and among fans, forcing the referee to call of the game. Later, the whole season was cancelled. A quarter-century later, in 1995-1996 season, Gaafar was the hero again. The then Zamalek co-manager abandoned the pitch with his players in protest against Hossam Hassan's goal that the Whites claim was offside. In 1998-1999 season, Zamalek quit the match after just two minutes after midfielder Ayman Abdul-Aziz was shown a straight red card for a harsh tackle on Ibrahim Hassan. Disciplinary History Twenty seven red cards have been shown during the previous 99 games between the Cairo giants. Ahli had 15 and Zamalek 12. The worst disciplinary record was registered in the first leg of the1994-1995 season when three players were sent off. Ashraf Qassem and Ismail Youssef from Zamalek and Ahli's Ibrahim Hassan received their marching orders. The trio was international players at the time. Ibrahim Saied, who played for both sides, is the only player who has been sent off with each team against the other.
