Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder set up a prolific display as he scored twice and assisted Raul to lead Real Madrid to thrashing Villarreal 5-0 at the Bernabeu on Sunday. La Liga top marksman Ruud van Nistelrooy and Guti scored the others to maintain Real' winning streak and the top of the table. Villarreal had a strong start of the game and managed to threaten Iker Casillas' nets but failed to capitalize on any of their chances. It all went upside down when Sneijder played a long pass to Captain Raul Gonzales who made an excellent control and opened the scoring eight minutes before the break. The Merengues found their way through the nets. Two minutes after the break, Sneijder confirmed his reputation of a specialist after sending a well-placed free kick in the back of the net to double his team's lead. His fellow countryman Van Nistelrooy hit the third after controlling comfortably Sergio Ramos' cross and slotting it past the keeper. Going naively forward, Villarreal left huge spaces in their backline and Sneijder punished them for that by curling an excellent ball from the edge of the area killing any dreams of a comeback. Guti had a last word to say in the 80th minute to register their guests' worst ever defeat in six years.
