Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Barcelona Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta on a one-year loan deal, the Primera Liga club announced on Friday. The 25-year-old has arrived in Madrid and will undergo a medical later on Friday before being presented in a press conference at Vicente Calderon on Monday, Atletico said on their official website. Although Barcelona said that Motta is surplus to requirements, they refused to offload him and opted for sending him out on loan instead. Motta will become Atletico's seventh high-profile signing following the arrivals of Diego Forlan, Simao Sabrosa, Jose Antonio Reyes, Luis Garcia, Raul Garcia and Christian Abbiati. After agreeing Motta deal, Atletico have sold Frenchman Peter Luccin to Real Zaragoza on a three-year contract. They will be hoping to finalize a move for Villarreal's Argentinean playmaker Juan Riquelme before the transfer window closes tonight.
