FilGoal.com brings you the catchiest quotes in the world of football for May 2007; discover some strange, outspoken, praising and bizarre stories from some of the big names in the game.
The jobless Eriksson:
England sacked Sven Goran Eriksson after the 2006 World Cup, as a result, he is still earning money until the end of 2007, but Sven believes he is not greedy.
"I had a contract until 2008, I was sacked. If I had been greedy I would have asked for money until 2008," he said.
"I agreed to have six months fully paid and six months half paid. So I think I was good value for the FA."
The Half-payment which Eriksson means equals $12,800 PER DAY!!
I don't have time to calculate the monthly salary he earns while staying at home!
However, the Swede is not finished yet:
"City is a big, big club with unbelievable support. They have a beautiful stadium, It would be an honor for me to be manager, like it would be for all other managers," Eriksson said this after the sacking of Stuart Pearce by Manchester City.
One week later…
"Newcastle is a huge club, with a wonderful stadium and fantastic fans so naturally if a club like that made an approach to Sven then clearly he would be interested in talking to them."
Eriksson's agent Athole still said this after Glenn Roeder resigned.
Kaka in their view
"He's the best player in the world along with Ronaldinho, he's most similar to (Johan) Cruyff. He has speed, vision and when he takes off from midfield he's one of a kind,''
Football legend Pele.
"Ricardo absolutely deserves it. I recommend a vote for him to all the jurors – Kaka deserves the Ballon d'Or more than anyone else."
Milan Captain Paolo Maldini.
"Kaka? He's sensational, being compared to him makes me shiver,"
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I'm sure he'll win the Ballon d'Or this year. He's also an excellent guy on and off the pitch. He is a fantastic player,"
Real Madrid winger Robinho.
"What Kaka has done this year is worthy of the Golden Ball,”
Milan defender Kakha Kaladze.
"Kaka is a superstar. In Manchester, he demonstrated his class; I was a spectator in his two goals. The first was impossible to avoid and he made a great play for the second,"
United defender Gabriel Heinze commented after the Champions League semi-final first-leg.
"Kaka is the best in the world at the moment and he will be a real danger to us in the final,"
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano before the Athens final.
The Gattuso corner
"In my dreams I always wanted to become a player who others saw and thought, "Bloody hell. Gattuso, he never stops running! Mamma Mia, look how that guy can really run. It's scary."
"Mentally, my dad (a former footballer) is a lot worse than me."
"He is perfect in his preparation, but I feel sick just to watch him eating while every day I'm dreaming of my wife's tiramisu,"
Gattuso astonished how teammate Filippo Inzaghi controls his diet!
Other stories
"After all that has happened this season - and that is a lot - I've reached the conclusion that I am a good loser,"
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho after losing the Premiership to Manchester United.
"I watched the last 15 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and I was in agony, I thought Arsenal were trying to throw it away! They kept giving the ball away, Chelsea kept driving forward and my heart was in my mouth,"
Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson talking about the match which handed his side the Premiership title.
