Ahli Jeddah compensated for their Saudi League disappointment by winning the local cup following a 2-1 victory over city rivals Ittihad on Friday. Midfielder Taysir Al-Jassem broke the deadlock in the 79th minute when he latched on to a brilliant through pass from Brazilian striker Caio before side-stepping a defender and slotting home. Ittihad then pushed forward searching for the equalizer but left huge gaps for Ahli to capitalize on. A quick counter attack four minutes from time released the in-form Caio, who swung in a pinpoint cross which was headed home by Malek Moeaz. Al-Hassan Keita pulled one back for Ittihad just one minute later when went through on goal before poking into the bottom corner of the net after being set-up by Hamza Idris' pass. Ahli secured their second title of the 2006/2007 season after winning the Faisal ben Fahd Cup at the expense of Ittihad also. However, they couldn't reach the top four in the league.
