Ancelotti rues unfortunate result, Hitzfeld praises Van Buyten

Carlo Ancelotti believes his AC Milan side did not deserve to come out with a first leg home draw after the thrilling 2-2 contest with Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter finals at the San Siro on Tuesday.
The Rossoneri failed to preserve their supremacy throughout the game after goals from Andrea Pirlo and Kaka were cancelled out twice thanks to a double-salvo from Bayern's defender Daniel Van Buyten.
The Milan tactician remains satisfied with his team's overall performance claiming that they were unfortunate not to come out as winners.
"A few things went wrong, but Bayern scored two very fortunate goals and we couldn't do much about them," Ancelotti told a press conference after the game.
"We played a fine game and deserved to win it. We didn't, but have the opportunity to do so in the second leg."
Ancelotti concedes that his side will be facing a tough tie when they visit the Bavarians for the second leg in Munich.
"Bayern clearly have a better chance of qualifying now. But I think tonight we were the better side," he added.
"It will be an uphill battle, but we can draw strength from the quality of our performance tonight, which overall I thought was excellent."

On the other hand, Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was left delighted, as he paid tribute to his Belgian center-back Van Buyten after his rare brace proved vital for his team.
"Daniel had been slammed heavily and I talked to him a lot recently. He has improved in recent weeks and I am very happy for him that he scored our goals," said Hitzfeld.
Hitzfeld admitted Milan's ascendancy in the first half, but believed that his side outclassed their opposition at the end of the game.
"Milan were definitely the better team in the first half and (Michael) Rensing showed what an excellent goalkeeper he is by saving a series of shots," he said.
"Towards the end of the match they were almost knocked out and we increased the pressure and pressed forward in great numbers.
"This is a good result, an important result as we scored twice away from home and we are now in a very good position for the second leg," Hitzfeld added.
Bayern host Milan in the second-leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich next Wednesday.
