Manchester United stormed back from a one-goal deficit to crush Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at home while Chelsea needed a last-gasp strike by Salomon Kalou to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Watford. The Red Devils are on top of the Premiership table with 78 points, six ahead of second-placed Chelsea who maintained their hopes of clinching a third successive title. At the Old Trafford, Matt Derbyshire stunned the home crowd in the first-half but United hit back with four goals in the second period through Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ji-Sun Park and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United's Serbian Nemanja Vidic had to be replaced by Ireland's John O'Shea after 28 minutes due to a shoulder problem. Derbyshire put the visitors ahead one minute later as he made no mistake from close range after Carrick's mis-clearance was blocked by keeper Edwin van der Sar into his path. Scholes deservedly grabbed the equalizer one minute past the hour mark following a brilliant individual effort.
Chelsea secured a late victory The former England international collected the ball on the edge of the box, went through and side-stepped two defenders before hitting a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. Carrick put United ahead 12 minutes later when he received Cristiano Ronaldo's low cross at the far post with a right-footed drive home. Korean midfielder Park added the third seven minutes from time on the rebound before Norwegian striker Solskjaer completed the rout with a late strike in stoppage time. Elsewhere at the Vicarage Road, Ivorian forward Kalou notched home deep into stoppage time to lead Chelsea to a 1-0 win over Watford. The former Feyenoord man rose above his marker to head home Andriy Shevchenko's inch-perfect cross from the right flank.
