Ahmed Hassan's Anderlecht missed a golden opportunity to snatch the Belgian League summit from leaders Genk after a goalless home draw against Waregem. The draw left the reining Belgian champions in second place with 56 points trailing Genk by just one point with eight games to go. Genk were humiliated by relegation-threatened RAEC Mons who thumped the league leaders 5-0, courtesy of an Ilija Stolica hat-trick and goals from Wilfred Dalmat and Fadel Brahami. However, Hassan and co. failed to collect the vital three points from mid-table Waregem in a game which the Egyptian skipper played till the end, but the club's top scorer in the league was not able to find his recent goal scoring touch. Anderlecht squandered a similar chance to dominate Genk last week when the two teams were tied at 1-1, even though their cup encounter 4 days later ended in a massive 6-0 win for the Purple and White.
