Chelsea grabbed an away 1-1 draw with Porto in their first-leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash in Do Dragao stadium on Wednesday. Porto needed only 11 minutes to open the score when Raul Meireles' deflected strike from the edge of the area went past Chelsea keeper Petr Cech. Chelsea's Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho looked adventurous drifting his winger Arjen Robben in for John Terry who suffered an ankle injury. The substitution reaped reward as Robben fed Shevchenko with a silky pass and the Ukraine captain drilled the ball into the far post to level in the 16th minute. Argentine forward Lisandro Lopez went close in the 20th minute with a long-range effort as Cech showed safe hands. Porto's flamboyant winger Ricardo Quaresma struck a spectacular free-kick in the 33rd minute, but Cech, who played wearing a head guard, produced another brilliant save to deny the hosts. In the second period the rhythm was affected by heavy rains as Chelsea looked more dominant without causing major problems for the hosts. Ivorian striker Didier Drogba went close in the 78th minute but his poor tight-angle drive was blocked by Porto's Brazilian keeper Helton.
