Argentina edge past France, England slump to defeat against Spain

Javier Saviola notched home in the first-half to help Argentina edge past France 1-0 away from home in an international friendly on Wednesday.
In the 15th minute, Javier Zanetti exchanged the ball with Saviola in the right-flank before providing a low cross to Hernan Crespo, whose shot was parried by the keeper into the path of the Barcelona striker who poked into the empty net.
Elsewhere, a superb strike by Andres Iniesta earned Spain a 1-0 victory over England at the Old Trafford.
The Barcelona midfielder brilliantly controlled David Villa's cross on the edge of the area before firing a powerful drive into the top corner of the net three minutes past the hour mark.

Spain defeated England
In other matches, Germany defeated Switzerland 3-1 at home.
Kevin Kuranyi opened the score line as early as the seventh minute and Mario Gomez doubled the lead in the 30th minute.
Torsten Frings added the third in the 66th minute before Marco Streller pulled one back in five minutes later.
Holland thrashed Russia 4-1, Morocco were held to a 1-1 home draw by Tunisia, Algeria beat Libya 2-1 and Croatia defeated Norway 2-1.
