Bayern Munich chairman Franz Beckenbauer believes Michael Ballack made a mistake in joining English champions Chelsea in the off-season. The Germany skipper opted for a move to Stamford Bridge after his contract with Bavarian giants Bayern Munich expired. However, Beckenbauer said that Ballack, who didn't live up to expectations since his move to Chelsea, would have better played for Premiership leaders Manchester United. "I cannot see a place for Ballack at Chelsea," the Germany legend was quoted as saying by Bild on Thursday. "As you can see, the game mostly passes him by. Frank Lampard is stronger and takes his position. He [Ballack] would have been better off at Manchester United." The 30-year-old played 17 matches for Chelsea in the Premiership this season and scored three goals.
