Germany's domestic double winners Bayern Munich kept their title challengers in sight after coasting 4-0 past hosts Mainz. Hasan Salihamidzic opened the score line in the 31st minute before Roy Makaay double the lead just before the interval. The visitors widened the gap in the 64th minute through Claudio Pizarro and Bastian Schweinsteiger put the icing on the cake two minutes later. Bayern, Germany's only representatives in the Champions League knock-out stage, are third with 33 points.
