Ittihad Alexandria's first training session after the humiliating 5-0 defeat against Ismaili was halted more than once on Saturday due to crowd troubles. Fans chanted angry slogans against their players at the Alexandria university venue and forced them to return to the dressing rooms every time they took the pitch. Goalkeeper Essam Mahmoud and sweeper Hossam Abdul-Moneam were in the center of abuse as they were seen by the supporters as the main reasons for the defeat. The club administration decided to suspend the players' wages till the results get better. Ismaili's drubbing was the third successive defeat after falling against Olympic Alexandria in the city derby and Zamalek. Ittihad are in eighth spot on 19 points after 14 games.
