Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is expecting to be booed from visiting fans when he lines up against his former club Arsenal at the Stamford Bridge in the Premiership on Sunday. "I have to be honest with myself. I think I am going to get booed badly. I am very well aware that some fans are very angry," Cole was quoted as saying by BBC Sport on Friday. The England full-back joined Chelsea from Arsenal in the off-season in exchange of French defender William Gallas and $9.5 million for Gunners. Cole's relationship with Arsenal strained once again when he published his new book, My Defence, in which he accused the club of betraying him.
Wenger Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger called on his side's fans to show respect for Cole in the anticipating showdown. "We want Ashley to be respected like everybody else. He's done well for the club and has now chosen to play for Chelsea. That's not a problem for me." "Our supporters are disappointed he left the club, we can accept and understand that, but that should not stop them from respecting him. "It's important Arsenal beat Chelsea on Sunday and don't focus on one player," the French boss added.
