The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) will postpone Ahli's local games as the African champions prepare for the 2007 World Club Championship in Japan, EFA president Samir Zaher said. Ahli, who beat CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on Saturday to retain their continental title, will travel to Japan to play in the top club competition for the second successive year and Zaher said that the EFA will show the club its support. “If Ahli need time to prepare we will grant them their wish,” Zaher told FilGoal.com late on Saturday. “We will work around Ahli's local league schedule till the finish their duty in Japan,” the EFA supremo added.
African champions Ahli Zaher was ecstatic after Ahli's record-equaling fifth African title. “The handled the game so well and deserved to win and make their mark in African football history,” he said. A number of Ahli's players will travel directly to London to meet up with the Egyptian national team for the international friendly against South Africa on Wednesday. “I will be waiting for them in London to congratulate them,” said Zaher.
