Twenty Egyptian players have been short-listed for the African best player in the last 50 years award as CAF celebrate their golden jubilee. The Confederation of African Football has designed a voting system that will allow internet users to vote for the best from a list of 200 players, CAF said on their official website. The 200 players were distributed into four generations 1) 1957-1970, 2) 1970-1980, 3) 1980-1990, and 4) 1990-2006. Votes for players from generation (1) will be worth 4 points, from generation (2) will be worth 3 points, from generation (3) will be worth 2 points, and from generation (4) will be worth 1 point to "give old and new generation of players equal chances", CAF said. Votes should be sent by email to [email protected] before 15th November 2006 so CAF can announce the top 50 players on their website from December 2006 until February 7th, 2007, which marks the anniversary of founding the African football's governing body.
