The Confederation of African Football (CAF) website has announced the list of candidates for the 2010 African Player of the Year award, and Egyptian national team players Ahmad Hassan and Mohamed Nagy )Geddu(did not make the list this year. The two al-Ahly players did however remain on the list of candidates for the Africa-based Player of Year award, which is available to African footballers that play for African teams. Candidates for the CAF African Player of the Year award include Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Samuel Eto'o (Inter Milan), Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland), Salomon Kalou (Chelsea), and Seydou Keita (Barcelona). For the Africa-based Player of the Year award, CAF nominated Ahmad Hassan and Mohamed Nagy Geddu from Ahly, along with Congolese player Alain Dioko. On the coaches' side, Egyptian national team head coach Hassan Shehata is competing for the title of 2010 Coach of the Year with Lamine N'Diaye, head coach of the Mazembe team and Milovan Rajevac, former coach of the Ghana team. The Egyptian national team is competing with the Algerian and Ghanaian teams for the 2010 National Team of the Year award. According to the CAF website, the shortlists are based on the nominations of the CAF Media, Technical and Football Committees, while the final winners will be determined by a vote held between the head coaches of the 53 African national teams affiliated with CAF.
