Germany coach Joachim Loew has named former Bayern Munich player Hans-Dieter Flick to be his assistant, the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Wednesday. "Flick is a great addition to our coaching staff and I am looking forward to working with him," Loew said in a statement carried out by the DFB website. "He embodies the attack style of football that we were looking for," he added. The 41-year-old Flick's coaching résumé is not very impressive as he only worked as he only coached third division side TSG Hoffenheim for five years and was fired in 2005. He has also worked as an assistant coach at Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg before being assigned to Loew's staff. "It is a huge challenge for me and I am really looking forward to it," said Flick. "I want to play my part in a successful Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and then win the title which is Joachim Low's target," he added. Loew himself was recently named as Germany's head coach replacing Juergen Klinsmann who stepped down after the World Cup. Germany kick-off their EURO 2008 qualifying campaign at home against Ireland on September 2nd.
