Hamburg were held to a surprising 1-1 home draw with Arminia Bielefeld in their Bundesliga opener on Saturday. Boubacar Sanogo's goal seven minutes past the hour mark cancelled out Christian Eigler opener in the first-half. The result put Hamburg in the ninth place with one point after the first match, while Bielefeld lie sixth with the same amount. Eigler stunned the home crowd in the 32nd minute after he collected the ball on the edge of the area before firing a powerful shot into the back of the net. Sanogo leveled the score for Hamburg in the 67th minute when he connected with Piotr Trochowski's corner-kick to head home. Elsewhere, Nurnberg thrashed Stuttgart 3-0 at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium to register their first victory. Robert Vittek opened the score in the 36th minute before Markus Schroth doubled the lead one minute before the interval. Ivan Saenko completed the rout in the 77th minute to hand Stuttgart a heavy defeat. In other matches, Mainz beat VFL Bochum 2-1, Borussia Monchengladbach defeated Energie Cottbus 2-0, Bayer Leverkusen cruised past Alemannia Aachen 3-0 and Schalke 04 tied Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1.
