Dunga replaces Parreira as Brazil coach
Published in FilGoal on 25 - 07 - 2006

Former Brazil captain Dunga has been named the national team's new coach, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said late on Monday.
Dunga replaces Carlos Alberto Parreira who quit after Brazil lost to France in the World Cup quarter-finals.
"The choice of Dunga will fully satisfy the desires of Brazilian fans who want an enthusiastic coach on the national team," CBF president Ricardo Teixeira said on their official website.
Dunga, who captained Brazil's 1994 World Cup winning team, has no previous coaching experience.
Yet, the 42-year-old is resolved to bring the same passion he had on the pitch to his coaching on the sidelines.
"I want to bring the same determination I had as a player," Dunga said on the CBF's website.

The charasmatic midfielder guided captained Brazil to World Cup success
"Motivation and will to win are fundamental for anyone who wants to wear the shirt of the Brazilian national team."
The CBF did not announce the length of Dunga's contract, but said his appointment was part of a larger plan to rebuild the national team before the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
Dunga's first game as coach will be a friendly against Norway in Oslo on 16 August.
Dunga's appointment surprised many as the position had been linked with more experienced coaches like Wanderley Luxemburgo and Paulo Autuori.
Luiz Felipe Scolari, who led Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title was supposedly approached first, but turned Brazil down in favor of extending his contract with Portugal.
