Bayern Munich are confident they will sign striker Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United and are prepared to sacrifice one of their current players to make room for the Dutchman. "We're still €5 million ($6.3 million) away from Manchester United's valuation, but the chances are still high," Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. Manchester United placed a £15 million ($27.7 million) price tag on the Dutch international, and have twice rejected bids from Real Madrid. It looks as though Bayern Munich are willing to meet the English team's demands and have already made plans to let go of one of their strikers. "If it does work out, I could imagine us giving away Roy Makaay or Claudio Pizarro," he added. Van Nistelrooy would not be Munich's first extravagant purchase this summer, having already spent €10.5 million (£7.15 million) on Germany's World Cup star Lukas Podolski. The 30-year-old Van Nistelrooy, who has made it known he doesn't want to continue with United, failed to impress with his native Holland in this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
