Ahli defender Shadi Mohamed said he was shocked after being fined and banned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for allegedly trying to assault the referee of his side's 1-0 defeat against Sfaxien. Shadi, along with Emad Meteb were banned for one game in the African Champions League on Monday and fined $1,000 each but Shadi stressed he had no role in the post-game incidents. "It is unbelievable," Shadi told FilGoal.com just few hours after the decision. "I haven't even had any contact with the referee because I was on the bench for the whole game. "There were some players who confronted the referee after the game but I wasn't among them as I rushed to the dressing room after the final whistle." Malian referee Coulibaly Koman filed a report to the disciplinary committee of the CAF accusing the Ahli duo of trying to attack him after the game. Several attempts made by FilGoal.com to reach Meteb for comment were unsuccessful. Both players will miss Ahli's second game in Group A of the tournament against Algerian side J.S.K. in Cairo on July 29th. No appeal will be accepted for the decision. Defending champions Ahli were handed their first African defeat in two years in Tunisia on Saturday in the group-stage opener.
