English club Middlesbrough have stopped the deal bringing German international defender Robert Huth to the club after the player failed a medical. Middlesbrough were on the verge of signing 21-year-old Huth for 5 Million Sterling Pounds from Chelsea but a knee injury the player suffered just before the World Cup forced the premiership club officials to cancel the move three days after the player underwent medical tests at the club. "It's a great shame to everyone involved that Robert won't be joining us at the present time," Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate told the club's official website on Thursday. Huth has been playing with English champions Chelsea for the past five seasons, but despite being a prominent figure in the German national side under Juergen Klinsmann, the 21-year-old only managed 32 starts in the past five years with London club. Southgate said that after Huth's transfer collapsed, the club will continue their search for new players, adding that the he won't be rushed to make a quick replacement signing. "I'm continuing to pursue a number of avenues towards potential new signings, but there's nothing concrete to confirm now," Southgate said. "Any signings will be those I believe to be in the best interests, not just now but for the next years, so I'll take my time to ensure we bring the right people to the club."
