Klinsmann content with top spot

Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann said that he is delighted to see his team top their World Cup Group A after beating Ecuador 3-0 in Berlin on Tuesday.
The win saw Germany maintain a defeat-free record with nine points from three games and despite a drop in the players' performance in the second-half, Klinsmann was very pleased with the way his side played.
“Our goal was to win the group and we achieved that,” Klinsmann said in a press conference after the game.
“It was difficult to keep up the pace because it was hot over there, but overall we are happy and looking forward to the knockout games,” he added.
The German tactician said that playing the tournament on home soil was a huge source of confidence to him and to his team in the first round.
“When you play at home you have the crowd behind you and that gives the player an extra push,” Klinsmann said.
The former World Cup winner added that he isn't concerned much about who they will be facing in the second round of the tournament but insisted that they will have to concentrate in their coming matches.
“We won't be allowed a single mistake in the games that are coming up.”
“The team knows if it plays to its full potential, it need fear no one, but we must keep our feet on the ground,” Klinsmann added.
On the other hand, Ecuador coach Luis Suarez is unhappy with his team's performance and said that the Germans have totally outclassed his team in the game.
“I am disappointed we played because we didn't play a good match,” Suarez said following the defeat.
“Germany played a great game, it wasn't what we expected but they were practical minded and we didn't play as well as in the first two games,” he added.
Suarez insisted that despite reaching the second stage of the World Cup for the first time in their history, they still have a lot to learn.
“We need to improve if we want to go any further in this World Cup and hopefully won't do the same mistakes again. Everybody played badly so we'll have to make a huge progress in order not to repeat them,” Suarez said.
