Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said his side's 2-0 victory over Australia in the World Cup, which lifted them to the knock-out stage, is fully deserved despite the inconsistent form showed by the world champions. "We are happy to have qualified, and it is a deserved victory," Parreira said in a press conference after Sunday's qualification. "We imposed both our style of playing, passing the ball around, and also imposed ourselves physically." Brazil's mission wasn't a walk in the park as they had to wait till the 59th minute before opening the score through Adriano. The title holders remained hanging by a thread till substitute Chaves Fred ensured the win one minute from time. But team skipper Cafu defended his team mates although they did not live up to the fans' expectation all over the world. "It is normal that we are not in top form. We only played three friendlies before the finals and we are getting better little by little," the 36-year-old defender said. Australia coach Guus Hiddink agreed. "Brazil are not playing as world champions yet, but they are improving," the Dutchman said. "Brazil is not playing at its best and had great difficulties against Australia in the second half and they were forced to counter-attack," he said. Australia's star Harry Kewell said his side will use their good performance the other night as a starting point towards a victory over Croatia. "We played well, it was a good team performance. Now we want to go and beat Croatia, we're not looking for a draw," the Liverpool midfielder said.
