France's departing coach Raymond Domenech refused to shake the hands of his South Africa counterpart Carlos Alberto Parreira after both sides exited the World Cup on Tuesday. Hosts South Africa beat one-time world champions France 2-1 but their victory was not enough to lift them to the second round. Uruguay qualified as Group A winners after claiming a 1-0 victory over Mexico, who advanced as runners up due to their superior goal difference to South Africa. France finished bottom of the group after a dismal campaign that also witnessed internal rifts between the players and Domenech. Domenech stirred more controversy before ending his France reign, snubbing the handshake of Parreira following the final whistle. "I believe it was because I had criticized his team after they qualified (when they controversially beat Ireland in the play-offs), but I really don't remember. This is what his assistants told me," Parreira said. Domenech, who will be replaced by former France defender and Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc, refused to explain his action. "I have no intention of replying to this question," he told reporters when asked about the incident. "Is there another question?," he added. Watch the incident
