Spanish champions Barcelona demanded €2 million to play a friendly against Ahli in December as part of the club's centennial celebrations. Ahli's board, who insisted that they could allocate the asking price, appointed Egyptian Council for Sports member Hesham Al-Kheshin to negotiate a deal with the European champions. On the other hand, Ahli announced signing Kafr Al-Sheikh striker Ahmed Al-Mulla for EGP 250,000 on Wednesday.
