Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini hit back at Brazilian striker Adriano's accusation that he was selected for the derby clash against AC Milan while he was not ready physically. "I'm disappointed that he said I selected him although he was not fully fit because that is not the case," Mancini was quoted as saying by Football Italia magazine on Friday. "I asked him how he felt after training on Thursday and he said he was fine. I even told him that he had to be sure because if he got injured then his World Cup could have been at risk. "Yet he continued to tell me that he was at 100 per cent. We had the same conversation after training on Friday," he added. Adriano has recently launched a scathing attack on his club, blaming them for not defending him whenever he is subjected to the media's criticism for Inter's recent bad results. But the Brazilian international has moved quickly to play down his comments, claiming that the journalist misunderstood his words. Former Lazio coach Mancini also commented on Adriano's strained relationship with Argentinean teammate Juan Veron, as the duo were reportedly involved in a fight after Nerazzurri's elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Villarreal. "In a group of 25 players of different nationalities, who all have different minds, it's clear that there can be two players who don't go out for dinner with each other every night," he said. "The important thing is that these 25 players concentrate on the one objective which they have in common, which is to take this Inter shirt to the highest possible level," he added.
