Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini said his side's over-confident approach to their UEFA Champions League knockout clash against Ajax Amsterdam was the main factor behind the 2-2 draw. "I believe we started out thinking it would be simple and were punished for that attitude," Mancini was quoted as saying by Football Italia magazine on Wednesday. "It's nonetheless a positive result and we could've gone 3-2 up at the end, so we'll see what happens in a fortnight," he added. Inter Milan stormed back from a two-goal deficit to hold Ajax Amsterdam to a 2-2 draw in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout tie on Wednesday. Two first-half goals from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Mauro Rosales put the home side on their way to a comfortable victory but Dejan Stankovic and Julio Cruz scored after the break to give Inter a dramatic draw. The former Lazio expressed his hope that Brazilian under-fire striker Adriano revive his goal scoring abilities after a goal-drought time. "We need Adriano to rediscover his form, as he is decisive for our hopes in Serie A and the Champions League," he said. Inter Milan will host Dutch giants Ajax in the return leg of the UCL round of 16 at the Giuseppe Meazza venue on the eighth of March.
