Newcastle striker Michael Owen has undergone a new 'minor' surgery in his bad foot but still hopes to make a comeback before the season ends, the English international said. "The specialists have said that everything is healing fine but to speed the process they need to tighten the screw they inserted at the time of my operation in January," Owen told Newcastle's website on Friday. "It's a simple process and should ensure that I am back playing for Newcastle before the end of the season." Owen, 26, broke his foot on the New Year's Eve during his 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premiership. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid star was expected to return to action early in April but with the new operation his layoff may be extended for a new month. Owen's need to a second surgery grew question marks over his ability to restore full form before the World Cup in June. England play in Group B alongside Trinidad, Paraguay and Sweden.
