Cairo Stadium- Ahmad Saied and Ahmed Maher: Cameroon coach Artur Jorge said his side gave a good performance against Angola in the opening game of their Cup of Nations Group B on Saturday. Jorge said he was happy that Cameroon got their campaign to a winning start after beating World Cup qualifiers Angola 3-1. “We played well and produced a satisfying result,” the Portuguese manager told a press conference after the game. "We saw a good match. Angola had a good first half but we played very well in the second," he added. The Cameroon coach said he is not worried about the knockout stage yet and that “there are two games left” for his team in the group phase. Samuel Eto'o put Cameroon ahead from a 20th minute set-piece before Angola striker Flavio put his side at level from the penalty spot ten minutes later.
Eto'o regained the lead for the Indomitable Lions six minutes from the interval before completing his hat-trick in the 76th minute. "It was important to win the first game," said Eto'o after the game. "I don't know what we can do in the whole tournament but on a good day, we can beat any team." Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves conceded that the better team won and that his side were no match for the Indomitable Lions. "Cameroon were better than us," said Goncalves. "The first half was quite even but in the second, the opposition was much stronger than we were." Goncalves insisted his side will strive to improve their performance in the upcoming Group B games. "We can do better than we did today and we have to believe that it is still possible to qualify (from the group)," he said.
