Tottenham slipped away a two-goal lead against Leicester City to lose 3-2 and exit the FA Cup from the third round on Sunday. The Spurs, playing without Egypt striker and top scorer Ahmed Hossam 'Mido', were two up courtesy to goals from Jermaine Jenas and Paul Stalteri and looked on their way to an easy victory. But the first-division Leicester stormed back to score three successive goals by Elvis Hammond, Stephen Hughes and Mark de Vries to clinch a memorable home victory. Mido flied back to England on Saturday to catch the game after Egypt's friendly against Nigeria was cancelled but Dutch coach Martin Jol opted to leave him out the squad.
Jol Tottenham's defeat ended their hopes to win any title this season after they were eliminated from the Carling Cup after losing to Grimpsy. Jol's side are fourth in the Premiership but 18 points adrift of undisputed leaders Chelsea. Mido scored nine goals for Tottenham this season and he is placed sixth among the Premiership top scorers.
