Gharib the player 1-Throughout his 15-year career as a footballer, Gharib played for no club other than Ghazl Mahalla, which saw him win zero trophies. 2-The former midfielder scored a single goal in 16 caps for the Egypt national team, which included four Africa Cup of Nations campaigns. 3-His memorable moment was a crucial opener against Ivory Coast in the 2-0 group win at the 1986 Africa Cup of Nations. 4-Gharib was the only player from Mahalla in Egypt's squad in the triumphant 1986 campaign on home soil. 5-He was also part of the Egypt squad that featured in the 1984 Olympic Games, starting every game for the Pharaohs in Los Angeles.
